What may possibly become the Philippines’ next administrative capital is set to rise in a new district that will rise in Fort Bonifacio.
Property titan Megaworld Corporation has teamed up with the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) for the creation and subsequent management of the160-hectare area called Bonifacio Capital District (BCD.) The new district is set to become the new home of several key government institutions, including the Senate, Supreme Court and the Court of Appeals.
The creation of the new development was formally announced during the signing of the formal memorandum between Megaworld and the BCDA at the Blue Leaf Pavilion in Taguig last March 14, 2019.
According to BCDA president and CEO Vince B. Dizon, “This marks the strong partnership of BCDA and Megaworld Corporation in building for progress.”
The two companies will create a policy review board that will have the exclusive jurisdiction to set policies and restrictions regarding development and construction within the BCD, as well as to ensure the full and proper execution of its master development plan, which was made by global engineering and design firm Parsons Brinckerhoff.
BCD will occupy the southern zone of Fort Bonifacio heading towards the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA.) The area covers two existing Megaworld townships, McKinley Hill and McKinley West; as well as several BCDA-owned properties, including the 33.1-hectare Bonifacio South Pointe and the Philippine Navy Village.
