Aboitiz Economic Estates is taking a significant step in workforce development through a strengthened partnership with Batangas State University (BatStateU) and the Aboitiz Foundation, following the opening of BatStateU’s LIMA Campus. The collaboration introduces industry-focused learning hubs within LIMA Estate, offering programs designed to upskill and reskill employees and locators in alignment with modern industrial demands.
The initiative is shaped by direct input from companies operating within the estate, ensuring that workforce capabilities keep pace with new technologies, operational processes, and global industry standards. Through Aboitiz Economic Estates’ integrated ecosystem, locators can concentrate on their core operations while talent development occurs seamlessly on-site.
Hosted at LIMA Estate’s Talent Edge Hub, the program is a first-of-its-kind model in an industrial estate that places education alongside work. By connecting training directly to operational needs, the approach enhances workforce sustainability and strengthens business agility amid rapid technological change.
Education anchored in industry needs
BatStateU, as the country’s National Engineering University, will provide specialized courses co-developed with technology and industry partners, including Microsoft, Cisco Networking Academy, CIM Technologies, Geodata Systems Technologies, and Huawei. With tuition and training fees funded by the Aboitiz Foundation, sessions are offered in-person and via hybrid formats at the Talent Edge Hub, emphasizing practical, applied learning to support everyday operations.
“Today, we come together in partnership to help prepare the next generation of Filipino engineers, technologists, and innovators who will power Batangas and the country’s continued progress,” said Clifford M. Academia, Vice President and Head of the Industrial Commercial Business Unit at Aboitiz Economic Estates & Aboitiz Land. “At Aboitiz Economic Estates, development goes beyond infrastructure—it means building ecosystems where business, government, and education work together to create sustainable growth and opportunity.”
LIMA Estate: A fully integrated industrial ecosystem
From its beginnings as an industrial park, LIMA Estate has grown into an integrated ecosystem hosting nearly 200 local and global companies and supporting over 75,000 jobs. The BatStateU LIMA Campus anchors education within this environment, making learning a natural part of daily economic activity.
Students and professionals gain skills in data management, networking, project planning, geographic information systems, and the Internet of Things, among others. Embedding learning within the estate allows companies to anticipate emerging skill requirements, tailor training programs, and provide employees with continuing education while minimizing disruption to productivity.
Continuous learning for a future-ready workforce

“We remain committed to supporting the development of a more talented workforce within Aboitiz Economic Estates,” said BatStateU President Dr. Tirso Ronquillo. “By strengthening capabilities, we can foster more dynamic economic activity within the estate. Continuous learning is central to outcomes-based education, ensuring that the workforce evolves with industry demands.”

The initiative includes lifelong learning pathways for professionals in high-growth fields, structured through microcredentials and the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP). Flexible formats, both online and in-person, recognize prior experience while opening access to emerging disciplines. Postgraduate programs and management-track courses further equip professionals to meet evolving responsibilities and strengthen organizational resilience.
Collaboration with real-world impact

Industry Advisory Boards and Councils connect academe and industry experts to co-create programs addressing real skills gaps. Training incorporates artificial intelligence and hands-on problem-solving, preparing local talent to thrive in a global industrial landscape.
“As we formalize this agreement, it serves as a reminder of what shared purpose can achieve,” Academia added. “These programs link education to meaningful opportunities, foster innovation, and support communities, reflecting Aboitiz Economic Estates’ commitment to workforce development and industrial competitiveness.”
Building inclusive growth through integrated development

By treating education, industry, and community as interconnected pillars, Aboitiz Economic Estates strengthens workforce readiness and advances inclusive growth. Its long-term partnerships position LIMA Estate as a future-ready, industry-anchored ecosystem where talent development, business sustainability, and community resilience converge.
