Eton Properties volunteers help restore Mt. Makiling

It was a day of muddy hands, shared laughter, and renewed purpose as over 50 employee volunteers from Eton Properties joined the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) in a tree-planting and nature walk at Mt. Makiling.

Trading office desks for forest trails, the volunteers planted seedlings of native and endangered tree species, including the Kalingag or Philippine cinnamon, which is found only in the Philippines. More than just a planting activity, the day gave participants the chance to see how caring for the environment starts with small actions that ripple outward to future generations.

Guided by ACB Executive Director Dr. Jerome L. Montemayor, the group hiked through the lush foothills of Mt. Makiling, spotting native trees, medicinal plants, and birds along the way. In an afternoon session, ACB also shared how Mt. Makiling acts as both a vital watershed and a safe haven for countless species.

“This effort goes beyond planting trees. It’s about protecting ecosystems and inspiring our volunteers to preserve the natural world for generations to come,” said Ar. Adrian Chua, Chief Operating Officer of Eton Properties.

The activity is part of Beyond Green, Eton Properties’ growing sustainability strategy that encourages employees to take part in caring for the planet in hands-on and meaningful ways.

For Donna Kristine B. Salgado, AVP – Head of Marketing, PR & Corporate Communications, and Sustainability & ESG Officer of Eton Properties, the day was about more than just environmental action, “Beyond Green is about people, purpose, and responsibility. We want our employees to feel that what they do today—whether planting a tree or learning about biodiversity—contributes to something bigger for our communities and the country.”

From muddy hands to lasting change—that is Beyond Green.
