Grammy-nominated artist Christine Allado takes the lead as Rachel Marron
A new chapter in Manila’s cultural story begins this September as the Proscenium Theater at Rockwell Center Makati makes its highly anticipated debut. Designed to be a landmark for the performing arts, the 780-seat theater opens with the Philippine production of The Bodyguard The Musical. Leading the cast is Grammy-nominated Filipina soprano and West End star Christine Allado, who takes on the iconic role of Rachel Marron.

The Proscenium Theater is envisioned as a stage that brings world-class entertainment productions to local audiences while cultivating Manila as a hub for creative performance and cultural exchange. Its premiere underscores a growing demand for spaces where global artistry and Filipino talent can flourish, elevating the city’s position in Asia’s theater scene.

For its inaugural performance, Rockwell and 9 Works Theatrical present The Bodyguard The Musical, anchored by Allado, whose journey from Manila to the world stage has made her one of the most exciting voices in international theater. Known for her breakout role in the original London cast of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton and her Grammy-nominated performance in The Prince of Egypt, she returns home to take on the role made legendary by Whitney Houston.

“Rachel Marron is a role that requires every part of you as an artist. To be able to bring her to life here in Manila is incredibly special. This feels like a true homecoming, and I can’t wait to share this story and this music with everyone,” she shares.
The Manila staging also features Matt Blaker as Frank Farmer, alongside a strong ensemble that includes Tim Yap, Sheena Palad, CJ Navato, John Joven-Uy, Vien King, Jasper Jimenez, Paji Arceo, and alternates Elian Santos and Giani Sarita as Fletcher. The production is directed by Robbie Guevara, with musical direction by Daniel Bartolome, scenography by Mio Infante, and choreography by Arnold Trinidad.

Audiences can look forward to Whitney Houston’s unforgettable hits, such as Run to You, I Have Nothing, Greatest Love of All, and the timeless I Will Always Love You—all brought to life in a venue crafted to deliver world-class talent and grandeur. By debuting with a production that combines international standards with Filipino excellence, the Proscenium Theater asserts its place as a catalyst for cultural growth in the city. Not only is it the start of a new performance season, but also the unveiling of a destination that will help shape the rhythm and character of Manila’s arts scene for years to come.
The Bodyguard The Musical runs from September 26 to October 19, 2025. Tickets are available through TicketWorld at premier.ticketworld.com.ph.
