Living a balanced life in Makati

Achieving a work-life balance is a priority for a lot of us these days. Whether it’s taking part in a recreational activity after work, having dinner with friends, or just taking a nice long walk to appreciate your surroundings, ensuring that you have a life outside of work is what a lot of professionals are aiming for.

To complement this kind of lifestyle, one thing you can do is opt to live in a city that can support both your work and lifestyle needs for a seamless integration. A prime example of this would be Makati City, which is not only known as a top business district but also for its expansive shopping and lifestyle options.

Premier business district

Makati City has always been considered a top business district in Metro Manila as it houses the offices of a lot of companies from various industries. Figures from KMC Savills show that the Makati Central Business District has an office stock of over 1.6 million square meters as of the first quarter of the year, one of the highest among business districts in Metro Manila.

For career-driven professionals, residing in Makati would mean being able to live closer to your place of work, which would result in less time spent traveling to and from your office. This means you’ll be able to save more time and energy, which you can use pursuing activities outside of your work life.

Malls and dining options

In addition to the proximity to offices, living in Makati also gives you access to a wide variety of malls to cater to your shopping and dining requirements. In the CBD alone, you have options such as Greenbelt, Glorietta, and SM, among others. There are also malls in other areas of the city, such as the Powerplant Mall in Rockwell and Circuit Makati in the fringe area. With the availability of retail and dining options, you will not have to travel far from your residence or even from your place of work.

Relaxing green spaces

Despite being filled with skyscrapers, Makati still offers pocket areas of green spaces where you can unwind, take a stroll, or even jog and do other light exercises. Some of these green spaces include the Ayala Triangle Park, the Washington SyCip Park, and the Legazpi Active Park, all of which are located within the central business district area. These areas are perfect for a breather, be it in the morning, after work, or even for a few minutes during your lunch break.

Weekend markets

For the foodies at heart, it’s a must to visit the weekend markets that Makati City has to offer. Two popular markets that have been going on for years now are the Salcedo Community Market and the Legazpi Sunday Market, which are held at the Jaime Velasquez Park and the Legazpi Active Park, respectively.

Held every Saturday, the Salcedo Market is popular for its gourmet food, artisanal goods and home-cooked favorites. Similarly, the Legazpi Sunday Market also offers a selection of food options as well as lifestyle finds for creatives such as vintage clothing and handmade crafts. These markets are a great place to commune with your neighbors and witness the city’s diversity and charm.

Residing in Makati not just gives you a prime address but also offers the perfect blend of career and lifestyle options to ensure that work-life balance that all of us strive for.
