CDC stays steadfast and true to its mission

Enhancing Clark as a premier M.I.C.E. destination

As The Philippine STAR celebrates its 38th anniversary, we seek out the valuable beliefs that fuel people and organizations to stand with their truth as they push through with their missions.

For this week’s special issue, Property Report spoke with Clark Development Corporation (CDC). CDC is central in the transformation of Clark into a premier business and tourism destination. At the helm of this ambitious endeavor is CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera, whose commitment to truth and authenticity is steering Clark towards a future of unparalleled development and community engagement.

Property Report: How does Clark Development Corporation embody the principles of truth and authenticity in its developments, especially in positioning Clark as a premier MICE destination?

Atty. Devanadera: At Clark Development Corporation (CDC), truth and authenticity are at the heart of our strategic developments. Under the direction of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., we champion a whole-of-government approach, collaborating with government agencies, the private sector, and local communities. This ensures that initiatives such as the Philippine Meetings, Events, Conventions, and Conferences (MICECON) 2024 embody these values, demonstrating unified support and enhancing Clark’s reputation as a premier MICE destination.

The event showcased the support of partners in mobility, connectivity, accommodation, venues, and culinary services, elevating Clark as a premier MICE destination.

Together, we create world-class developments that resonate with the true needs and aspirations of our stakeholders. This spirit of collaboration and dedication to truth drives us to make Clark an ideal destination for business, leisure, and families.

Property Report: With Clark’s significant enhancements and the introduction of new hotels and facilities, how is CDC ensuring that these developments not only attract investors but also create authentic and vibrant communities for residents and visitors alike?

Atty. Devanadera: We are committed to creating vibrant, authentic communities for both residents and visitors. Alongside the existing 4,100 hotel rooms, we are adding more with prestigious names like Hilton Sun Valley Clark, Wyndham Garden, The Henry Hotel, and the upcoming Crimson Hotel, ensuring ample accommodations. Moreover, the CDC recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Department of Human Settlement and Urban Development to initiate plans for housing units for Clark Freeport Workers and Stakeholders under President Marcos Jr.’s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program.

Recent upgrades to playgrounds, parks, green spaces, and recreational facilities have transformed our developments into vibrant environments where families can bond, thrive, and enjoy local culture and culinary delights. Our goal is to foster a sense of pride and ownership among residents, making Clark a place where everyone feels connected and valued. Through community events, cultural festivals, and art exhibits, we celebrate local talent and heritage, nurturing a cohesive community fabric. This holistic approach ensures that as Clark grows into a global destination, it retains its unique charm and remains a vibrant and authentic community.

Property Report: In the context of CDC’s plans to expand Clark’s capabilities with new convention and cultural centers, how do you see these projects contributing to the overall authenticity and appeal of Clark as a destination that reflects the true spirit and values of its community?

Atty. Devanadera: CDC’s plan to construct the Clark Cultural and Convention Center in partnership with the Cultural Center of the Philippines aims to elevate the destination’s allure and authenticity by showcasing rich cultural heritage, nurturing local talents, and celebrating the arts, culture, and history of Clark, Pampanga, and Tarlac. This effort promotes a strong community identity, fostering deep connections for visitors and residents with Clark’s cultural essence and historical significance.

Property Report: Clark’s readiness to host major events like MICECON 2024 highlights its potential as a global MICE hub. How does CDC balance the commercial aspects of these developments with the need to create genuine, community-oriented spaces that resonate with both local and international visitors?

CDC transforms Clark into an immersive destination where travelers can interact with local talents, savor the local flavor, and enjoy purpose-driven travel experiences focused on meaningful interactions and cultural exchanges.

Free access to parks, a 25-km bike lane, and expansive green spaces make Clark ideal for sports enthusiasts, hosting events ranging from cycling to running.

Legacy projects like the National Museum for Central and Northern Luzon and the upcoming Clark Cultural and Convention Center underscore our commitment to cultural heritage. Future plans include diverse retail offerings and a walkable street featuring curated menus, ensuring a distinctive and enriching experience for both local and international visitors.
