Ayala Land’s construction powerhouse, Makati Development Corporation (MDC) Group, continues to set benchmarks in the construction industry, garnering multiple accolades for its exemplary projects and commitment to excellence.
At the prestigious 2024 Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards, MDC’s Azuela Cove Seawall Project emerged victorious in the Infrastructure Category. This project will represent the Philippines at the 2024 ACI Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards in October. This marks MDC Group’s fourth consecutive year of recognition at these awards.
The Azuela Cove Seawall Project was lauded for its innovative use of Design for Modular Construction (DfMC), a method that not only mitigated flooding risks but also ensured timely project completion. Key features of the project include a 25-meter footbridge, an 82-meter reinforced retaining wall, and a 120-meter masonry wall, all situated within the Azuela Cove estate in Davao.
Beyond project-specific accolades, MDC Group’s unwavering commitment to safety has been acknowledged with an impressive 125 Construction Safety Awards from the Safety Organization of the Philippines (SOPI). These awards highlight MDC’s dedication to workplace safety and health, with four Outstanding Safety Practitioners and one Outstanding Safety Consultant from the group also being honored. Additionally, MDC’s projects received four Construction Safety Awards.
Internationally, MDC Group’s commitment to safety was recognized with 12 International Safety Awards from the British Safety Council in 2024. Projects such as The Residences at Azuela Cove and Avida Towers Riala Tower 5 were celebrated for their outstanding safety practices. MDC was also shortlisted for the prestigious James Tye Award and the Health and Safety Transformation Award, underscoring its dedication to fostering a safe work environment.
Further cementing its leadership in quality and safety, MDC Group’s subsidiary, MDC ConQrete, Inc. (MCI), achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first construction company in the Philippines, and globally, to secure the ISO 22965:2007 certification. This certification underscores MCI’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety in concrete construction processes.
