The Rise Makati is not your usual Shang Properties project, not your usual super luxury with huge bedrooms because it’s designed to be more modest. In fact, Shang Properties created The Rise Development Company to build The Rise — a new category in its property portfolio.
Shang Properties is an affiliate of Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts worldwide, and Kerry Properties Limited, one of Hong Kong’s largest property investment and development companies. In the Philippines, it built Shang Salcedo Place, Shang Grand Tower and St. Francis Shangri-La Place, among many others.
And this is where it gets really interesting. While Shang Properties is known for spacious units, The Rise was designed for smaller ones — and yet what the Shang brand does best in its luxury developments it also brought to the amenities and shared spaces of The Rise. Add to that the expertise of its mall division, which is running Assembly Grounds on the lower levels of The Rise.
Designed by Asya Design Partners with consultants KplusK International Limited, Hong Kong, The Rise is on a 10,825-sqm. of land on Malugay St., just off Buendia in Makati. The three-wing tower has a total of 3,044 units and three levels of basement parking for a total of 746 slots.
A typical floor has 55 units, divided across three wings; the north and west wings have 17 units each, and the east has 21. Studios are 24.64 to 25.08 sqm., from P5.2 to P5.6 million. One-bedroom units without balcony are from 25.82 to 28.01 sqm., P5.1 to P6.1 million; units with balcony are 27.02 to 29.21 sqm., P5.5 to P5.7 million. Two-bedroom units are from 67.92 to 94.37 sqm., P7 to P10 million.
The Rise really was designed for a younger market — young professionals and couples or those with small families. This is evident in the sizes of units and the way it designed its amenities floor, including spaces where residents can entertain their guests, and for them to work and study.
If you didn’t know about the unit sizes and its market, you’d think from its five-star amenities — which spared no expense in the material — that the condo was for a luxury market.
There’s a library and workshop with working spaces for your laptops and for studying, a hangout lounge area, billiards room, karaoke rooms for entertaining and a home cinema, swimming pool with sauna, and gym with pilates and yoga rooms. There are also function rooms that residents can rent for parties that their units cannot accommodate, and a barbecue area.
For those with small children, there’s the kiddie pool and a “crawl space” for toddlers to play.
Downstairs, the two-level Assembly Grounds is another meeting place, occupying 5,245 sqm. with more than 20 F&B outlets including Starbucks Reserve, Zubuchon, Ramen Daisho, and Recipes.
Service and retail outlets include hair and nail salons, a spa and skin clinic, True Value, BPI and Security Bank. Outside the mall is a large courtyard that connects to the development next door.
