Christmas has always been a special time for Filipinos. We are known for celebrating the Yuletide season at the start of the –ber months. In fact, the first to put out decorations and play Christmas carols are the many shopping malls scattered all over the metro. Malls have become part of the modern Filipino culture. Each mall has something special cooked up for Filipino families from the classic decorations to the whimsical and fantastic. Feel the magic and cheer of Christmas in the following malls with your family and friends.
SM Supermalls
As the country’s biggest mall chain, SM Supermalls kicked off the Yuletide holiday bigger and grander than ever before with larger-than-life Christmas mall displays and holiday pop-up stores. Be dazzled by the delightful sights, sounds, tastes and holiday finds in SM malls this season.
SM Mall of Asia
SM Mall of Asia proudly displays a 60-foot Christmas tree, the tallest indoor tree in all SM Malls. It’s decked with red, blue, gold and green decors with a sculptural starburst and an illuminated grand staircase frames it. The mall also boasts a state-of-the-art indoor music and lights show that delivers a mesmerizing holiday medley.
SM Aura Premier
SM Aura Premier’s festive circus and Chinoiserie-inspired Christmas centerpiece showcasing Chinese elements welcome guests. In line with its theme “Flight of Lights,” a 33-foot tree adorned with golden eventails, opulent feathers and a resplendent phoenix as its highlight, acts as the first of two interactive light displays. Located by the Christmas tree centerpiece is a golden birdcage, which the public can enter and experience an interactive light show. As participants form their hands into a particular shape, a phoenix will emerge and take flight above their heads.
The second display is located at the Skypark on the fifth floor. It greets visitors with swing sets, which glow brighter with every movement, allowing guests to be enthralled with a first-hand experience of creating their own light as they fly higher and higher. Surrounding the swing sets are glowing, moving lights that mimic fireflies. Both displays are open to all for free until Jan. 7, 2020.
SM Megamall
SM Megamall’s “Santa’s Crystal Castle” features a 40-foot Christmas tree inspired by the bright street lights of London and adorned with a string of gems, crystals, snowflakes, and metal ornaments, with red telephone booth and toy soldier ornaments. Acting as the centerpiece is an interactive Crystal Room that has over a thousand fairy lights that is open for shoppers and visitors to take Insta-worthy pictures.
Robinsons Galleria
Robinsons Galleria treats mall goers of the East with beautiful New York-inspired holiday sites, featuring a generously-decked white frosted tree with gold, bronze, and silver ornaments and cute roller skates and bear trimmings; a sparkly interactive sleigh beside a jolly snowman; and larger-than-life gift boxes, snowballs, hanging snowflakes and Christmas balls all around the mall.
Rockwell Power Plant Mall
The Power Plant Mall has become a favorite stomping ground during the Yuletide season with its giant Christmas tree (reaching the mall’s ceiling), life-sized animals (polar bears, camels and deer, oh my!), and decked out hallways and ceilings. This year is no exception as the whole mall is bathed in white, green, red decors and thousands of lights.
Evia Lifestyle Center
Evia Lifestyle Center kicked off the holiday season with a grand display of a 40-foot Christmas tree with red and gold accents. The whole activity center of the mall looks like a Christmas village lighted up, and makes an amazing backdrop for photos with the whole family. Southerners can rejoice when celebrating the holiday here at Evia Lifestyle Center.
Tiendesitas
Tiendesitas started the Christmas season right with the Gift of Wonders, a bigger-than-life installation that will make visitors instantly feel the Christmas spirit. Visitors can take Instagram stories of the House of Stars — a crowd favorite, which is an immersive installation with vibrant colors and dancing lights that encapsulate the essence of a Filipino Christmas.
Glorietta Mall
The Ayala Malls are decking their halls with a unique twist, combining traditional Christmas colors with a tropical, floral vibe. The newly re-opened Glorietta Activity Center of Glorietta Mall has a towering LED screen with dazzling Christmas presentations lighting it up. Ring in the merry feeling as you take lots of photos in front of its towering Christmas tree that appeals to the kids and the kids-at-heart.
Uptown Mall
Get ready to see red (and pink) at Megaworld Lifestyle Malls’ Uptown Mall. Standing at 40 feet, Uptown Mall’s Christmas tree is embellished with flowers such as poinsettias and roses, pine cones, and balls. Christmas wreaths hang on the ceilings of the mall with decors that exude an air of elegance flattering the premier lifestyle mall. Take plenty of photos as you sit on the LED-light-weaved armchair that is flanked by Christmas gifts and a life-size teddy bear also made of LED lights. Or pretend to ride a bike that is surrounded by poinsettias.
Festival Supermall
This Christmas season, allow yourself to be a kid again when you visit Festival Supermall. With the theme “Light Up the Wonder at Filinvest City,” the mall promises to awaken the wonder that you first felt when you were still a child with playful life-sized decors including a giant television adorned with Christmas elements, gifts on display, a Christmas village that showcases life-sized installations of stores, houses and decorations, and a 42-foot Christmas tree decorated with symbols of Christmas. All this can be found in the mall’s newest attraction, the Water Garden.
